The Lowdown
This tale begins like many others in Austin. In 2009, I was traveling through on a cross country road trip, and stopped in to visit some friends. The amazing live music, eclectic mix of food, and southern hospitality inspired me to stay longer and discover what else Austin had in store for me. Having just lost my old dog before leaving on my trip, I decided to get a job working with pets at PetSmart’s PetsHotel and volunteer at Austin Pets Alive, where I eventually worked as well. While I loved being around pets all day, I quickly recognized that the boarding environment was not a happy place for many of them. At the same time, I kept getting more and more requests from friends and neighbors to pet sit, and eventually made the decision to start pet sitting full time. It was so much more personalized to every pet’s needs, and healthier than the pet hotel environment. Plus, it’s really hard to ignore your calling when it beckons that loudly.
My decision to go from a boarding environment to personalized pet care stems from a belief in putting the needs of pets first, and this has also been the driver in selecting the Advanced Pet Care pack of pet care specialists. Like-minded people who strive to keep the pets in our care happy and healthy, and who truly enjoy doing the work. We absolutely love what we do and feel fortunate to make a career of having fun with your pets. At the same time, we take what we do very seriously as though your pets are our very own.
